NBC Universal Backlot
Universal City
California

The new 130-acre NBCU village provides the opportunity to create a vital and diverse community responsive to its unique environmental and cultural setting. It will be a community which connects to its place through the shaping of its buildings and open spaces, balancing the energy and creativity of contemporary culture with timeless human and environmental needs.

The master plan design provides for a diversity of building types and public spaces to nurture community while allowing for individual choice and expression. Pedestrian life is encouraged through clear access to transit and a network of streets and paths for walking and biking. The site topography is reinforced through the weaving of the natural landscape through the urban form, creating an environmentally, socially and economically sustainable community.
