First Impressions of University of Denver's New Community Commons
DU’s new Community Commons welcomes a diverse student community by bringing a critical mass of students and resources to the center of campus. Since opening in January, this project funnels and mixes students with a variety of types of spaces for students to dine, meet, socialize, study, and make use of supportive services. The Community Commons conveys a message of openness and invitation through transparency that broadcasts what is happening inside and invites participation—places where you can see yourself and where you can express yourself. Flexible, open, and visible spaces welcome students and reinforce a sense of belonging that is key to keeping students on campus and to support success.
