North Orange Continuing Education (NOCE) Facilities Master Plan, North Orange County Community College District
Orange County
California

The North Orange County Continuing Education (NOCE) Facilities Master Plan revitalizes and transforms a former multi-story healthcare facility, designed around vehicular and ambulatory access, into a vibrant pedestrian-scaled garden campus. Interior and exterior environments are interconnected through social stairs and garden terraces, expanding student program capacity and flexibility for exterior collaboration and congregation.

The goal of the plan is to create a range of multi-tiered interior and exterior spaces that expands the public realm and cultivates a greater sense of campus community.  The parking areas on the campus will integrate photovoltaic arrays, and safe and accessible connections to outdoor congregation spaces and pedestrian promenades. A new tiered landscape (Green Heart) becomes the center piece of the campus and is positioned at the nexus between key site and building entrances, food service, the building vertical core and a new public transit hub. Each element, together, strengthens campus identity and wayfinding in service to the newly shaped pedestrian environment.
