Principal James Mary O'Connor will be presenting a session entitled Shanghai Theatre Academy—An Innovative Model for the Performing Arts Campus at the Society of College & University Planning (SCUP) 2014 Pacific Regional Conference on Tuesday, March 25, from 3:45–4:45 pm at the Lowes Hollywood Hotel in Hollywood, CA.  James will be co-presenting with Courtney Crosson, Senior Sustainability Consultant at Buro Happold, and Michael Ferguson, Director at Theatre Projects Consultants’ LA office.

This session examines the state-of-the-art Shanghai Theatre Academy project to share innovative planning strategies for integrating performing arts education with sustainability, technology, and the larger community. Featuring a panel of the master planner/design architect, the theater design consultant, and the sustainability/high-performance building design consultant, the discussion will focus on relevant planning and multidisciplinary approaches that support innovation and cutting-edge technologies, including connecting to the surrounding community, linking vibrant spaces to encourage interaction, and achieving a totally integrated theater arts learning, training, and performing campus.
